THE FOUNDER’S PLAYBOOK
The playbook I built the hard way.
Fifteen-plus years in marketing taught me plenty. Building and successfully scaling two brands from nothing taught me more. Here's the point of view that came out of it, how an engagement with me actually works, and how I can help you build a playbook that grows your brand.
WHAT I BELIEVE
A few convictions that shape my approach
Most marketing advice is generic because most marketers never had to live with the results. These are the beliefs I learned in the trenches, and the philosophy I bring to every engagement.
01
Marketing has to fit your stage.
There's an order to it. Early on, experience and smart placement build the awareness a brand needs: people will remember what they try, not what they're told. Advertising has its place, but it only pays off once that awareness exists to build on. Get the sequence right and every dollar works harder.
02
Focus beats coverage.
You don't need to be everywhere. Three things done well beat ten done halfway. A lot of my job is helping you commit to the few moves that matter now and let the rest go. It will accelerate growth and minimize wasted resources.
03
Authentic beats polished.
The best brand voice comes from why you started, not a thesaurus. Copy that sounds like marketing gets skipped. Copy that sounds like real conviction gets remembered. Your story is worth telling. It’s the relatable tie that moves customers to purchase.
04
Clarity is non-negotiable.
Forty-slide decks are useless because you'll never open them. Marketing strategy will never work If you can't act on it Monday morning. I demystify, I don't dazzle. Everything we work on together is a practical, re-usable tool.
How we’ll work together
Every engagement follows the same arc: get clear, build the strategy, bring it to life. The first two are a defined sprint. The third is where the real momentum lives.
Find the gap.
I start by listening. Where are you now, where do you want to be, and what's actually standing between the two? I look hard at what you've tried, where your time and money are going, what's generating traction even a little, and what's quietly draining the tank. This isn't a questionnaire. It's a real look under the hood.
PHASE 1 - WEEKS 1 TO 4
THE DELIVERABLE
Clear positioning, sharp messaging, and a go-to-market plan you can act on.
Sharpen the strategy.
With the plan in hand, we build the foundation it calls for. We clarify your positioning so it's obvious why you and not the other option. We sharpen your messaging so it sounds like a real person with real conviction, not marketing wallpaper. And we set a go-to-market direction sized to your stage and your budget, so you're not pouring money into tactics built for a brand ten times your size.
PHASE 2 - WEEKS 5 TO 8
THE DELIVERABLE
A one-page plan: your top two or three priorities, in order, with the reasoning behind each. Some brands need only this to get moving on their own, and that's a perfectly good outcome.
Bring it to life.
This is where most of the work, and most of the momentum, lives. Strategy that sits in a doc doesn't grow anything. So we roll out the creative, get your team fluent in the messaging so everyone tells the same story, and execute the go-to-market, whatever the moment calls for. Then we watch what lands, double down on it, and keep going.
PHASE 3 - ONGOING AS NEEDED
THE DELIVERABLE
Ongoing and results-driven. Prioritized strategy execution including messaging & creative rollout across channels, team enablement, campaign & activation execution, and performance assessments based on intended results.
A DEFINED START. A PARTNER WHO STAYS WITH YOU.
The first two phases are a clear, scoped runway, roughly eight weeks from "we're guessing" to "we have a strategy." Phase three is the ongoing partnership where it all comes to life. You get the clarity of a project and the continuity of someone who sticks around to execute it.
